Mechanism of actionEnbrel® is a soluble tumour necrosis factor (TNF) receptor fusion protein1
  • Much of the disease pathology in RA, PsA, AS and PsO is mediated by pro-inflammatory molecules that are linked in a network controlled by tumour necrosis factor (TNF)1
  • The mechanism of action of Enbrel is thought to be its competitive inhibition of TNF binding to cell surface TNF receptors, which thereby inhibits the biological activity of TNF1
  • Enbrel may also modulate biologic responses controlled by additional downstream molecules (e.g., cytokines, adhesion molecules, or proteinases) that are induced or regulated by TNF1
AS: Ankylosing spondylitis; PsA: Psoriatic arthritis; PsO: Psoriasis; RA: Rheumatoid arthritis; TNF: Tumour necrosis factor.
